New Plastics Economy Initiative renews Participants group for the next three years

07-02-20

The New Plastics Economy initiative has renewed its Participant group, which includes major global players representing key roles across the plastics value chain. For the next three years, the 38 Core Partners and Participants will work together towards building and scaling a circular economy for plastic in which it never becomes waste.

The New Plastics Economy Core Partners are on the initiative’s Advisory Board, together with The Oak Foundation, which is the Philanthropic Funder of the initiative, and Wendy Schmidt, through The Eric and Wendy Schmidt Fund for Strategic Innovation, which is the lead Philanthropic Partner.

All of our Core Partners and Participants are signatories of the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, which unites more than 450 organisations behind a common vision and targets to address plastic waste and pollution at its source. This vision of a circular economy for plastic is underpinned by three main actions: (1) Eliminate all problematic and unnecessary plastic items. (2) Innovate to ensure that the plastics we do need are reusable, recyclable, or compostable. (3) Circulate all the plastic items we use to keep them in the economy and out of the environment. The New Plastics Economy initiative team are looking forward to working closely together with its Core Partners, Participants, and Global Commitment signatories to make plastic waste and pollution a thing of the past.

The question is not whether a world without plastic pollution is possible, but what we will do together to make it happen.
